SENNEBOGEN AT BAUMA 2010

The SENNEBOGEN name has stood for reliable and finely engineered equipment for over 57 years. And for over 50 years, the company has been an avid participant at bauma. This year, SENNEBOGEN Maschinenfabrik will present its products over a significantly larger area on its traditional open-air stand F7.706.

This provides the ideal setting for the company to present the wealth of innovations from its extensive production range. SENNEBOGEN is a traditional family company and full line provider, being in a leading position as a globally established innovation driver and manufacturer in the fields of material handling and crane engineering. A global network of SENNEBOGEN sales and service partners guarantees first-class consultation and customer service.

The broad product range encompasses complete series of HD crawler cranes, crawler cranes, telescopic cranes, truck cranes, material handling machines and special base carriers. At bauma 2010, SENNEBOGEN will present a real firework of new and innovative machines from the different product lines.

CRANE LINE CRAWLER CRANES

The new SENNEBOGEN 7700 Star Lifter Crawler Crane will celebrate its world premiere at bauma 2010. The 300 t lifting capacity and impressive maximum boom length of 148 m (74 m main boom, 74 m fly boom) make the machine the new top model of the Sennebogen star lifter range, rounding off the diverse range of products perfectly. The different configurations of main and fly boom ensure maximum flexibility and versatility. The compact and robust design combined with high loads make the SENNEBOGEN 7700 a reliable and extremely economical partner for the construction of heavy pre-cast concrete sections, for example, as well as roofed structures, preliminary assembly in the off-shore field, power plant construction, as an assembly crane for wind power plants up to 1 MW, or as a service crane for larger wind power plants. Benefits of the SENNEBOGEN 7700 include the ability to move under load, easy operation and rapid set-up. CRANE LINE DUTY CYCLE CRAWLER CRANES

SENNEBOGEN HD crawler cranes have been in use extremely effectively all over the world and in a wide variety of fields for over 50 years. In 1969 SENNEBOGEN has introduced the first fully hydraulic crawler crane in the world. The new SENNEBOGEN 690 HD crawler crane will represent the SENNEBOGEN range of HD crawler cranes impressively at bauma. With a lifting capacity of 90 t, the machine is flexible, powerful and ideally suited for every task in the fields of special civil engineering, quarrying, demolition or material handling. The mechanical hydraulic diaphragm wall grab, pipework machine, vibrator, drag bucket, grab and load hook make the 690 HD ideal for use under tough conditions. The two-rope grab operation, high line speed and telescopic undercarriage provide the optimal conditions for high performance in continuous operation. With 9 models and lifting capacities from 20 to 200 t, SENNEBOGEN offers the perfect dragline for practically every task.

CRANE LINE TELESCOPIC CRANES

Sennebogen telescopic cranes combine maximum flexibility, economy and quality. The 613, 643 and 683 models are available with mobile or crawler undercarriage and are appraised by clients as robust and reliable partners. Telescopic cranes can be used in a wide range of fields and the enormous potential afforded by these machines becomes clear in light of ever growing demands. SENNEBOGEN will present a new model from this range to visitors at bauma 2010.
The new HPC 60 Truck Crane with a lifting capacity of 60 t is yet another new addition and will also be presented at the SENNEBOGEN stand. The machine is a real eye-catcher in a completely new design. But the new look isn’t the only impressive new feature of the HPC 60. A new telescopic boom system guarantees outstanding lifting capacities up to the maximum boom length of 42 m with extremely compact dimensions and maximum stability. The truck chassis makes the HPC 60 extremely mobile and ideal for travelling long distances – a very interesting and extremely economical telescopic crane.
The SENNEBOGEN 608 Multicrane defines a whole new class of machine. The 608 Multicrane caused a real stir back at bauma 2007. This machine is unique on the market with an 8 t lifting capacity, 20 m boom length, a rear end radius of under 2 m and a cab which can be raised to over 4 m. Winch, lifting fork, earth scoop or working platform – with the hydraulic quick coupling system, the SENNEBOGEN 608 is a real all-rounder offering maximum flexibility and is a real asset on any construction site.

GREEN LINE MATERIAL HANDLING MACHINES

The SENNEBOGEN Green Line machines for material handling are process
machines for use under the toughest conditions. The widest range of material#handling machines in the world will be represented by the following machines at bauma 2010.

SENNEBOGEN 818 and 310 Multiloader – the dynamic duo in the recycling industry. The recently presented SENNEBOGEN 818 is the standard recycling machine for all sorting and loading tasks. With an operating weight of 19.5 t, SENNEBOGEN is setting new standards in this class with the 818. Maximum operating flexibility is achieved with the extremely compact and robust design. With a rear end radius of just 2.3 m and a total width of 2.5 m, the 818 is an enormously versatile machine that is easy and light to manoeuvre and transport and impresses with its high performance potential, even in very small spaces. The boom length of 9.2 m and equipment that can be moved extremely quickly make the 818 suitable for a wide range of tasks, guaranteeing effective sorting and loading work. The wealth of innovative solutions underlines the constant focus on practical requirements.

The SENNEBOGEN 310 Multiloader makes an ideal addition on the recycling site. But its use is not restricted to recycling – with a lifting height of 9.3 m and a maximum load of 10 t, the 310 is at home anywhere where goods have to be stacked high or heaped together. The machine is also equipped with an elevatingcab which can be raised to a viewing height of over 5 m, making it ideal for loading trucks with a unique form of added safety. The wide variety of attachments such as the earth scoop, bulk scoop, light goods scoop, lifting fork or working platform offer enormous versatility for everyday use of this robust, powerful and highly manoeuvrable machine.
The new SENNEBOGEN 825 Crawler D-Series Electro combines all the benefits of the well-established SENNEBOGEN D series and represents the large number of machines from the Green Line supplied with electric motor. For years, SENNEBOGEN has been supplying all Green Line machines to meet customer specifications, including with electric motor, and boasts a leading position on the market. This extremely economical and environmentally friendly motor offers a whole host of advantages compared with a diesel engine. Refuelling time is eliminated, maintenance requirements are significantly lower than with comparable diesel machines and the operating life of the components is greatly increased. There is also the benefit of zero emissions with constant 100 % performance – all extremely persuasive arguments which are winning over ever more customers.

More SENNEBOGEN highlights from the Crane Line and Green Line will be
presented at bauma 2010. Detailed information on further SENNEBOGEN
innovations to follow – the success story continues…
We are looking forward to bauma 2010!

The market for new and used construction equipment in India

Huge opportunities exist for growth within the local construction plant market. Surprisingly, locally manufactured plant and machinery comprises of less than 50 per cent of the total units sold within the country.
Government investment in water resources, highways and rural road projects is one of the key driving factors for demand. The ministry of road transport and highways has embarked upon an ambitious plan of building 20 km of new roads per day.
These in turn will create a demand for the supply of quality plant and equipment.

Opportunities within the construction market

India boasts one of the world’s fastest growing economies and with this growth runs an increase in construction, creating numerous openings for overseas companies in the modernization and the regeneration of the country’s cities. After agriculture, the construction sector is the second largest industry in the country. It is an integral part of the country’s infrastructure and industrial development, presently experiencing an annual growth rate of 15-20 per cent. The key instrument for this being government investment in the infrastructure, and the creation of building projects both within the residential and industrial sectors.
Backhoe loaders, crawler excavators, and mobile cranes comprise of nearly 75% of the market by volume. Followed by compaction equipment, mobile compressors, and wheeled loaders, accounting for a further 16%. Asphalt finishers, rigid dump trucks, crawler dozers, motor graders, and skid-steer loaders make up the remainder. Off -Highway Research predicts a robust growth of 28 per cent for 2010, and anticipates a steady growth of 14-19 per cent over the coming years. The largest growth rate is expected for crawler excavators, graders, backhoe loaders, wheeled loaders, mobile cranes and compaction equipment.
Long term sales outlook is positive as India’s 11th five-year plan calls for investments of US$ 494 billion in infrastructure, and this will continue to drive growth within the equipment markets. This potential expansion in sales for the next five years is only limited by the speed of the government decisions to start the projects.

Equipment sellers benefit from on-site and online bidding at Ritchie Bros. auctions

VANCOUVER, March 1 : Thousands of people, representing every continent, registered to bid at the unreserved public equipment auctions conducted by Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers (NYSE and TSX: RBA) in Moerdijk, the Netherlands and Fort Worth, Texas last week (March 24 – 26 and March 25 & 26, 2010). Ritchie Bros. (www.rbauction.com), the world’s largest industrial auctioneer, sold (euro)31 million (US$42 million) of equipment in Moerdijk, attracting more than 1,400 on-site and online bidders from 69 countries, and US$31 million of equipment in Fort Worth, attracting more than 3,100 on-site and online bidders from 41 countries.

“Two things stood out at our Moerdijk auction: the depth of the bidding audience and the strength of the pricing, which was above expectations across almost all equipment categories,” said Brian Butzelaar, Ritchie Bros. Vice President – Northern Europe. “People feel confident buying from us because the equipment is always secure in our yards under our custody and control, because we allow our customers to do their own inspection so they can trust their own eyes, and because the bidders at the auction set the prices – not the sellers. That confidence results in better prices for our consignors.”

Gary Sharp of Cummins Construction in Enid, Oklahoma sold almost 50 equipment items in the Fort Worth auction, a 4 1/2 hour drive away.

“I’m very pleased with the results of this sale; my asphalt pavers sold well above my expectations,” said Mr. Sharp. “I’ve been selling through Ritchie Bros. for 14 years and I always get good prices for my equipment. I think people pay more because they can come to the site and see the equipment; that’s why I won’t sell just online. It’s worth sending my equipment to Fort Worth. There were a lot of people at the auction and the internet brought in more bidders from all over the world – Egypt, Africa, the Middle East.”

David Hobbs, Ritchie Bros. Vice President – U.S. Central, commented: “The auction went extremely well: we registered thousands of bidders and saw very encouraging prices across all equipment categories. For the first time ever, we registered bidders from all 50 U.S. states in Fort Worth. There seems to be some cautious optimism out there; people are coming to our auctions looking for equipment they can put straight to work. By giving our customers the option of bidding on-site or online, we open up our auctions to the world – and that benefits both buyers and sellers of equipment.”
