As part of a £12 million investment in new equipment during the last twelve months, Lynch Plant Hire and Haulage, a leading name in the UK plant hire sector, has purchased no fewer than 22 Atlas Copco hydraulic breaker and compactor attachments, and the company is planning to make an even larger purchase of Atlas Copco products in the near future.

Many of the attachments from the current batch, which includes five MB 1200E medium breakers, six MB 750E medium breakers, ten SB 302 small breakers and one HC 350 compactor, are already in use on the Crossrail project, which will see 42 km of new rail tunnels constructed under London. Much of the equipment from the future order is destined for use in the construction of the new nuclear power station at Hinckley Point near Bristol.

We have chosen to invest in Atlas Copco equipment because our rigorous testing of the company’s products has confirmed that they provide excellent performance and reliability in even the toughest of operating conditions,” said Merrill Lynch, Operations Director of Lynch Plant, “which is what our customers justifiably expect.”

BKT “WOWs” Bauma Visitors for 3rd Successive Year

Posted on by Chris

BKT, the Off-Highway tyre manufacturer headquartered in Mumbai, India, enjoyed great success at Bauma with its sponsored, customized rickshaws offering free transport to visitors around the open-air area.  The new “WOW” campaign branding was clearly visible in striking baked earth colours designed for the industrial and OTR sectors.  These free rides proved immensely popular with visitors who wanted to move from one hall to another, but found the large distances involved rather exhausting!  Many guessed that WOW must surely stand for “Without Walking” but “WOW” is infact the word chosen by BKT for its new campaign to represent the one sound people make when confronted with the quality and value for money of their tyres.

For their 3rd visit to Bauma BKT highlighted several product lines now extended by new sizes and, amongst these were the Earthmax, a tyre with an all-steel structure designed for dumpers and wheeled loaders to ensure optimum load distribution on the terrain. Tread sizes include the SR 40, 29.5 R 25 and the SR 45, 18.00 R33.

Also new was the Airomax AM 27 (size 445/95 R 25) for on/off-the-road high-speed crane applications and the solid-tyre Maglift (7.00-12) for forklifts.  BKT also highlighted its Loader Special (L5) tyre in the size 35/65-33 and its new Container King 18.00-25, specially designed for handling heavy loads. Lynch Plant Hire have been successfully working with, County Down based, Hill Engineering for many years and the synergy between the two companies continues to grow.

Lynch is committed to major investment in the very latest equipment and safety is a priority,  which is why Lynch continue to invest in Hill’s products, including  the recently launched Award Winning TEFRA Coupler.

“When the dual locking quick hitch system was introduced we investigated what products were available on the market, after looking at other manufacturers, we chose to work with Hill Engineering,” said Merrill Lynch, operations director at Lynch Plant Hire.  “Hill’s range of quick couplers were tried and tested and were what we believed to be the safest and best-engineered quick hitch available.  Hill is a pioneering and forward thinking company and continues to improve its products year on year – always ahead of the game in terms of innovation and technology.”

“Our customers such as Bam Nuttall and Skanska demand the highest standards in safety and that is what we get from Hill – their mission statement is in line with ours and ‘Safety and Innovation’ is at forefront of their business, which is why it’s the perfect partnership.”

“Hill Engineering is also active in helping us with ‘Quick Hitch Training’ and work with our own operators.  They also participate in our ‘Quick Hitch Safety Road Shows’, where we have visited almost 60 construction sites to provide operator training and issue a Quick Hitch Safety Card.”

Jarlath Gilmore sales director of Hill Engineering, said: “As a leading quick hitch, bucket and excavator attachment manufacturer, we share Lynch Plant Hire’s dedication to improving safety on the UK’s construction sites and have hesitation in participating in the road shows to ensure the proper use and maintenance of our hitches.”

Lynch added, “We believe that Hill’s TEFRA next generation quick hitches are the safest on the market today and definitely the first choice for Lynch Plant!  It’s not just us that think that either – the TEFRA won two PLANTWORX Innovation Awards, one for Engineering and the other for Safety.”

REMU Combi E8 Screening Plant Launched

wedge
Posted on by Chris

Worsley Plant are pleased to announce the launch of the brand new screening plant REMU Combi E8 which was launched by their Finnish supplier REMU at Bauma 2013, Munich, Germany.

Combi E8 is a non-clogging screening plant for preparing topsoil and processing various waste materials. New re-engineered solutions have increased screening capacity by a wider 950 mm screening table and a new 2,6 m3 feeder unit. Depending on the configuration of the screening element the blade spacing can be 15 mm to 100 mm. Grain size of screened material is approximately 8 mm smaller than blade spacing.  Screened fines will continue to the fine material conveyor while overs will be conveyed to the side of the plant. Improved screening capacity and easier operation provides more cubics with fewer expenses.

Function of the screening plant is based on rotating blades. Unlike other star screens, the blades of REMU screening plants are always made from wear resistant steel.  A powerful 82 HP (61 kW) CAT C4.4 engine is at the heart of the Combi E8.  A large engine bay and double doors give an easy access to service points.  The structure of the Combi is very compact, but it can reach the capacity of 300 m./h (400 y./h).  Both conveyors can be folded up for the transportation.

PLANTWORX – A Chance to be Proud of Our Industry

wedge
Posted on May 10, 2013 by Chris

If you haven’t registered for the CEA’s PLANTWORX trade show at Stoneleigh Park next week (14-16 May) please do so now at www.plantworx.co.uk.

Advertisement over…. I am delighted at how our industry has joined together to support our own trade event. We stopped the clock at 260 exhibitors from right across the construction equipment industry – and the pre-registrations of visitors are on a very positive upward trajectory. We know we have seen better times in the UK construction industry, but this is our chance to get together and talk business and be proud of what we do. None other than the BBC’s Business Editor, Robert Peston, got it right in his recent blog when he said, “Maybe the light at the end of the tunnel isn’t the oncoming train but the diggers and construction equipment being switched on again”. Amen to that.

And for BBC enthusiasts, be sure to tune in next Tuesday (14th) when the BBC Breakfast business news comes live from PLANTWORX!
