IronPlanet® (www.ironplanet.com), a leading online marketplace for used heavy equipment, conducted a record-breaking two-day online auction March 17-18. The auction produced the company’s highest single-day auction sales total to date surpassing $22.8 million. The two-day auction totaled $26.7 million in equipment sales.
IronPlanet had more than 14,500 auction attendees at its March 17 event participating from 150 countries. There was strong global bidding and buying with international bids on over 60 percent of the equipment and 26 percent of the units sold to international buyers.
“IronPlanet continues to attract a very strong global buyer base as was evident by our March 17 and 18 auctions,” said Mike Groves, senior vice president North American sales at IronPlanet. “It is through our global buyer reach that we continue to consistently deliver fair market pricing for the equipment that we sell. Our broad buyer base and our lower cost to sell versus traditional auction channels enable us to deliver greater value and a higher net return for our sellers.”
IronPlanet’s two-day sale had a broad range of construction and agricultural equipment from more than 60 consignors including liquidations from Aiken Grading and Triangle Grading Contractors as well as equipment from Phillips & Jordan, Lafarge North America and many other sellers. IronPlanet sold more than 1,099 items including aerial work platforms, articulated dump trucks, compactors, crawler loaders, farm tractors, graders, scrapers, wheel loaders and other types of heavy equipment.

March 2011: The 8th International Demonstration Exhibition of Raw Materials and Building Materials, steinexpo 2011, has grown strongly in other exhibition areas. While specialist manufacturers in the field of screening technology and screening media in recent years rather watched from the sidelines than co-determine the action, this year leading suppliers in this field are again flying the colours.

Screening success depends on the correct assessment of the bulk material to be screened by the choice of the sieve tray and the design and setting of the appropriate screening machine. In the treatment of mineral raw materials the rule of thumb that applies is that money in the end is not earned with the crushing but with the screening. This makes it very clear how high the demands are on modern screening technology. No matter the scale and magnitude required, it is an essential indicator for the profitability of whole plants.

The hammer recently came down on an online charity auction for JCB’s unique Union Jack digger with leading Ipswich-based plant hire firm Fork Rent securing the machine.
JCB staged the auction as part of a Christmas fundraising initiative in support of Help for Heroes, the British charity that supports servicemen and women wounded in conflicts around the world.
Fork Rent’s Managing Director, Guy Nicholls said: “I’m absolutely delighted that Fork Rent has secured the Union Jack 3CX Eco Backhoe Loader. It’s such a distinctive machine and very fitting that JCB auctioned it to raise money for Help for Heroes. Fork Rent will continue to use this unique model to raise even more money for Help for Heroes. Check back on this page for news about how you can get involved with our fundraising efforts and where you can see the most unique JCB in the world!
Bryn Parry, CEO & co-founder, Help for Heroes, said: “We at Help for Heroes (H4H) are thrilled that JCB decided to auction their exclusive Union Jack digger and well done to Fork Rent for securing the machine. The money raised will provide much needed funds to help our wounded heroes on their road to recovery, and if Fork Rent is able to use the Union Jack digger to raise even more money for H4H, that would be just fantastic.”
