Sany Heavy Industry Listed in 2011 FT Global 500

wedge

On July 1, the British newspaper Financial Times released the 2011 list of the world’s 500 most valuable companies (FT Global 500) ranked by market capitalization. Sany Heavy Industry (Code: 600031) was put on the list of FT Global 500 for the first time, ranked 431st, with a market cap of 21.584 billion US dollars. Sany has become the first company listed among the world’s top 500 companies in China’s construction machinery industry.

Financial Times releases the world’s most valuable publicly traded companies every year, and this is the 15th such ranking. At present, FT Global 500 has become one of the most influential and noteworthy lists of commercial enterprises in the world. All companies to be included in the list must have at least 15% of the total shares as tradable shares. The value of non-tradable shares is not counted, and investment companies are excluded. FT Global 500 will give a comprehensive consideration of country of origin of the companies by a few factors, such as place of registration, main place of stock exchange, market place and so on.

In this freshly released list, America-based Exxon Mobil regained its top position with a market cap of 417.2 billion US dollars, and Petro China and Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC) were No. 2 and No. 4 with 326.2 billion US dollars and 251.1 billion US dollars respectively.

Since 2003 when Sany Heavy Industry went public, Sany has transformed itself from a leader in concrete machinery industry to an all-round construction machinery manufacturer of a broad range of construction machinery products.

Supported by years of outstanding performance, Sany has witnessed rapid growth in its market cap: on June 17, 2005, Sany conducted the split share structure reform and realized full circulation of its shares, and the market cap of Sany Heavy Industry then was about RMB 4 billion yuan; by June 30, 2011, the market cap of Sany Heavy Industry had soared to RMB 137 billion yuan, 33 times as much as 6 years ago. The compound annual growth rate (CAGR) was as high as 80%.

Sany’s entry into FT Global 500 is one more exciting event in China’s construction machinery industry besides its market cap hitting RMB 100 billion yuan on October 22, 2010. President of Sany Group Tang Xiuguo commented, “The market cap of a company reflects investors’ judgment on the company’s potential and prospect. In a sense, the ranking of market cap can better reflect the company’s competitiveness and brand influence compared with the ranking of pure sales revenue.”

Researcher of Industrial Securities Wu Hua pointed out that Sany Heavy Industry has been increasing market shares quickly by taking advantage of its leading position in the industry, resulting in remarkable sales increase. In the first half of this year, the sales revenue of Sany’s concrete machinery is expected to increase by 80% and that of excavators by 130%-140% year on year. According to Wind Info, even against the backdrop of a tightened macro economy in China, the stock price has risen by nearly 30% since the beginning of 2011, marking the fastest growth rate in the construction machinery industry.
President of Sany Heavy Industry Xiang Wenbo said that the key elements supporting Sany’s fast growing market cap are Sany’s excellent performance, enormous potential for growth and level of profitability. Industry data shows that, in the past 5 years, Sany’s sales revenue increased by nearly 10 times and its profit by about 20 times. According to the newly released “Five-Year Plan” of Sany Group, by 2015, Sany’s sales revenue will hit RMB 300 billion yuan and Sany will become a member of global 500 in terms of annual sales revenue.

Future of the Construction Equipment Market in Qatar to 2015

wedge

Qatar is one of the wealthiest countries in the world, with GDP per capita exceeding US$70,000. With an increase in gas exports, the country is expected to record a GDP growth rate of 18.5% in 2010, and remain one of the countries with the best global economic performance.

Moreover, the high level of oil and gas revenue is expected to continue, supported by planned investment in infrastructure projects, and contribute to the strong construction industry growth expected throughout the 2010–15 forecast period.

Financial review of Qatar’s construction equipment market

During the report’s 2005–09 review period, the consumption value of Qatar’s construction equipment market recorded a combined annual growth rate (CAGR) of 23.30%. This growth occurred during 2005–08, primarily due to substantial investment in construction activity in Qatar, a country with a rapidly growing population, increasing per-capita GDP, and revenue from abundant natural gas resources.

The period of growth ended in 2009, however, when the Qatari market’s consumption value fell by 44.9% from 2008’s figure. In 2009, industry growth was affected by the postponement or cancellation of private sector construction projects as a result of the economic downturn. Public sector construction expenditure continued, however, supported by the reduction in construction costs in major project tenders.

Construction equipment consumption is expected to increase throughout the forecast period as a result of continued government investment in a diverse range of education, healthcare, infrastructure, and transport projects. WMI expects the consumption value of the Qatari construction equipment market to register a CAGR of 15.66% during the forecast period.

Qatar’s construction equipment market does not house any domestic equipment manufacturers and consists solely of suppliers and equipment rental companies. The country’s construction equipment requirements are therefore met through imports.

Categories of Construction Equipment used in Qatar

Qatar’s construction equipment market is, for the purposes of this report, divided into six categories: Earth Moving Equipment, Construction Vehicles, Material Handling Equipment, Concrete Equipment, Road Construction Equipment and Other Construction Equipment.

The material handling equipment category was the market’s largest category in 2009. With a number of construction projects in the pipeline, this category is expected to record a CAGR of 16.34% over the forecast period.

Sandvik introduces two new mining cone crushers – CH890 and CH895

wedge

Thanks to their specialized geometries, 1000 horsepower, greater structural strength and proven technologies, the newly launched CH890 and CH895 are designed to increase performance in both secondary and tertiary/pebble crushing applications.

The specially designed, strength-optimized topshell and dedicated crushing chambers of the CH895 model make it ideal for tertiary and pebbles crushing while the CH890 topshell and crushing chambers are dedicated to secondary crushing. Both units have more power and increased crushing force in order to increase productivity. Manfred Schaffer, President Surface Mining at Sandvik Mining and Construction, says: “The heavy-duty structure and 1000 horsepower are what first meet the eye. But it is the specialized geometries and smart crushing features that uniquely drive efficiency and throughput. We call this ‘Dedicated by Design’.”

The new mainshaft, made from a new high-strength material, is designed to withstand harsh mining requirements while the strength-optimized bottomshell design allows for greater loads. Simply stated, the heavy-duty structural design ensures durability and longevity in the most demanding conditions.

Further customer improvements, for increased safety and minimized downtime, include a relocated external dump valve and a new over pressure system to keep the lubrication oil clean, thereby increasing time between service. Customers will also recognize the trusted cone crusher design from Sandvik with its hydraulically adjusted mainshaft and proven ASRi™ control system to facilitate online adjustment during full load and ensure peak performance at all times.

“The CH890 and CH895 crushers have been dedicated to specific applications while sharing the same platform for easy service and support which should facilitate efficient inventory management and parts forecasting”, adds Manfred Schaffer.

Malaysian Construction Equipment Industry Forecast to 2015

wedge
Home | Back | Posted on by admin

The Malaysian construction industry is largely dependent on imports of construction equipment, despite its relatively well-developed domestic manufacturing industry. The Malaysian construction equipment market consists of both domestic manufacturers and major foreign companies.

Of all equipment categories, concrete equipment is expected to experience the strongest growth during the forecast period, while other categories will also experience strong growth.

Construction equipment industry overview

In 2009, the turnover of the construction equipment market stood at US$246.4 million following an annual decline of over one-third. This was due to a fall in domestic consumption during the recent global financial crisis and a fall in demand in major export destinations, such as the US. However, the construction equipment market is expected to improve throughout the forecast period as a result of government stimulus packages.

A feature of these stimulus packages is increased infrastructure spending, which will boost demand for construction equipment from government contractors. By 2015, the Malaysian construction equipment market is expected to be worth almost US$470 million.

Increased domestic infrastructure expenditure

To counteract the negative effects of the recent global financial crisis on its economy, the Malaysian government announced a stimulus package worth US$2.0 billion, approximately 1.0% of its GDP, in November 2008. The construction industry received a major share of this package, as the government plans to construct 25,000 low- and mid-income housing units and upgrade police stations, army camps and living quarters, schools, hospitals, roads in rural areas and other public amenities such as community halls and bridges.

Communications infrastructure also received a significant share of the investment package, as the government is keen to encourage a knowledge-rich economy. Increased infrastructure spending will boost demand for construction equipment from government contractors. Following this other stimulus packages have been announced by the Malaysian government, further expected to impact the construction equipment industry.

Dependent on imports

The Malaysian construction industry is largely dependent on imports of construction equipment, despite its relatively well-developed domestic manufacturing industry. Between 2005 and 2008 equipment imports accounted for approximately three-quarters of overall consumption until 2008, before reaching a high of over 80% in 2009.

Market competitors

The Malaysian construction equipment market consists of both domestic manufacturers and major foreign companies. While certain foreign firms, such as Hitachi and Volvo, have joint ventures and subsidiaries in the country, others have market presence only through dealerships and distributors. The leading manufacturers in the Malaysian construction equipment market include Caterpillar (Tractors Malaysia), Favelle Favco, Hino, Hitach, Isuzu, Kobelco, Kato, Nissan and Sumitomo.

The UK Construction Equipment Industry Forecast to 2015

wedge
Home | Back | Posted on by admin

From 2005 to 2009, the turnover of the UK construction equipment market recorded a Compound Annual Rate of Change (CARC) of -10.08%, largely due to increasing national credit restrictions and a decrease in construction activity.

However, the construction equipment market is expected to improve between 2010–15 (the forecast period) due to increased construction activity and upcoming infrastructure projects to support the 2012 London Olympic Games.

With a 43.7% share, the material handling equipment category was the largest category in the market in 2009. Earth-moving equipment also accounted for almost half of the value of market exports over the review period. However, tunneling and drilling equipment is forecast to witness the fastest category export growth of over 10% during the forecast period.

Decreasing turnover

Over the review period, the turnover of the UK construction equipment market recorded a CARC of -10.08%, largely due to increasing national credit restrictions and a decrease in construction activity. In 2009, the turnover of the construction equipment market stood at US$5.0 billion, which represented an annual decline of over 40%.

During 2008–09, the UK economy was negatively affected by the unstable global financial market and, in the third quarter of 2008, it officially entered a recession. This economic instability limited the performance of the construction industry during 2009. However, the construction equipment market is expected to improve throughout the forecast period due to increased construction activity and upcoming infrastructure projects to support the 2012 London Olympic Games.

Construction machinery with catwalk effect

wedge
Home | Back | Posted on July 4, 2011 by Chris

Patiently working away and performing at consistent capacity. This is the everyday life of a piece of construction machinery. A modern construction machinery demonstration can follow this example – but it doesn’t have to. That the new models will cope well with professional company, was the mutual opinion of the steinexpo organisers and the manufacturing companies. So for the first time this year a moderator will be in action at the communal demonstration at the stone quarry demonstration exhibition in Nieder-Ofleiden.

Construction machinery of ten different manufacturers will be in action on around 22,000 m² of the “fairground” in the MHI Nieder-Ofleiden stone quarry. The demonstrations are held every 30 minutes at three different loading stations, with, in addition, a practical reloading demonstration at one of the loading stations. While the technical planning team of the Institute of Mining of the Technical University of Clausthal coordinates the technical processes, so that these can hold their own in the trained eyes of the experts – regularly more than 90% of the steinexpo visitors – the show concept develops concurrently with music and moderation.
