Material handling equipment group Manitou continues to expand its presence in Asia

wedge

Material handling equipment group Manitou continues to expand its presence in Asia from its regional hub based in Singapore. Leveraging its Manitou Asia subsidiary, the group has been developing in 2011 a new proximity service platform for its regional networks. The objective is to support new markets, such as India, China or Indonesia, which are gradually opening up to sophisticated handling equipment. Ahead of the traditional construction or agriculture markets (which are yet to emerge locally), these countries already share specific needs for mining activities, which are vital for their economies. The Chinese construction market is becoming increasingly mechanized with higher levels of safety in its operations, two dimensions familiar with the Manitou offering.

“The level of interest raised from major professional trade fairs and numerous dynamic demonstrations confirms our view that robust, easy-to-use machines can provide a direct response to the needs of Chinese construction companies. It is the mission of our local entity Manitou China to organize this opportunity for our dealers and users”, says Antoine Chazelle, VP Sales Asia. Manitou Group will attend the BICES construction show in Beijing from 18th to 21st October. This event provides the opportunity to confirm the Manitou telehandler as a real, rough-terrain handling solution.

Construction machinery exports up 48 percent

wedge

United States exports of construction equipment continued to grow in 2011 and ended the first half of the year up 48 percent compared to January-June of 2010. Total construction machinery exports at midyear were $11 billion, according to the Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM). The off-road equipment manufacturing trade group consolidates United States Commerce Department data with other sources into member global trend reports.

“Exports remain a bright spot for the United States construction machinery manufacturing industry with continued weakness in the domestic marketplace. Pro-American export policies such as free trade agreements are proven to spur economic growth, which means manufacturers can provide more jobs for United States workers. That’s a key message of our I Make America campaign, which underscores the significant role of manufacturing in United States job creation,” stated Al Cervero, AEM vice president and construction sector leader.

  • Exports of United States made construction machinery to South America grew 51 percent to total $2.1 billion, and exports to Central America totaled $933 million for a 24 percent gain. Among the top 10 countries buying equipment during the first half of 2011 were Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Peru.
  • Asia’s export purchases increased 54 percent to $1.5 billion, and Europe’s 75 percent gain translated to $1.4 billion.
  • Australia/Oceania took delivery of 52 percent more American made construction machinery for a total $1 billion, and exports to Canada increased 43 percent and totaled $3.4 billion.
  • United States exports to Africa grew 50 percent for a total $636 million.

Euro Auctions sees used construction plant sale at Dormagen breaks all records

wedge
Home | Back | Posted on by admin

In just three years, Germany has grown to truly embrace the used construction plant and machinery auctions concept, with the highest ever hammer price for a Euro Auctions sale at Dormagen, since May 2009, being recorded during the 15 & 16 September sale and 30% of all lots sold destined to remain in-country.

“We have seen strong and continued growth at Euro Auctions, Dormagen despite the current economic conditions,” stated Jonnie Keys from Euro Auctions. “The Dormagen auction has become a truly popular international event and the latest auction not only broke all previous sale records but was oversubscribed with sellers. It also attracted the largest number of registered bidders ever, with registrations continuing to increase sale on sale by approximately 15%.”

Increased pre event marketing by Euro Auctions helped attracted buyers and sellers from across central Europe. Buyers from 44 countries participated in the sale from as far afield as South Africa, Syria, Yemen, Israel, Afghanistan, Indonesia and Australia, however German buyers and sellers were responsible for the resounding success of this sale:

• German buyers bought more items than any other country
• First time registrations from buyers were highest from Germany
• Most sellers were also from Germany
• More buyers were resisted from Germany than any other country
• Of all first time registered buyers that bought at this sale, the highest number were German.

Interest from the home German market was extremely strong during the sale, with approximately 26% of all registered bidders coming from Germany, including an ever growing number of dealer representatives.
