Do you have machinery to sell and want to target buyers in Africa? Then get ready for the bumper Special Issue 2514 of Resale Weekly. Africa is HOT and equipment is in high demand!

Africa is still an extremely buoyant economy with a good appetite for a wide range of used equipment. Dominant buying countries include Nigeria, Libya, Egypt, Syria, Tanzania, Ghana and South Africa, with interest coming from across the region. Popular machinery includes all makes of excavators and dozers from 20t upwards with CAT D6t’s being a popular choice and in hot demand.  North Africa still has interest in smaller machines and general contracting tools such as backhoes, mini diggers, telehandlers, wheeled loaders, compressors and dump trucks. Much of this continent also needs quarrying equipment (crushers, screeners and conveyors) in addition to older wheeled loaders, large generators and compressors, with early model agricultural tractors also being popular.

Demand is being fueled by new road infrastructure projects in Tanzania, with Sierra Leone embarking on new road projects in the Central–Eastern region.  Kenya is also embarking on utilities projects that will produce electricity for 500,000 homes. So with this type of demand, growth in Africa is certainly sustainable!

RWM UK, NEC Birmingham UK, 11th to 13th September.

If you want to target South East Asia and China and have machinery to sell, then get ready for the bumper Special Issue 2512 of Resale Weekly.

The South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) - An organisation of South Asian nations, was established on 8th December 1985 to provide the promotion of economic and social progress. Members include Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. Great opportunities exist in these countries for trade and all members have an appetite for used and new machinery and construction equipment.

With India investing (US) $1.2 trillion in infrastructure projects in the next five years, including transport, irrigation, oil, gas and telecommunications, all will need equipment and machinery, so this is a market to watch. At market, Indian interest is already being seen with smaller construction companies buying good used equipment; predominantly backhoes, telehandlers, compressors and mixers. Pakistan is another ready market for older equipment, with emphasis on items such as wheeled loaders and excavators. Make is not important at this stage but older, non computerised machinery is preferred. Other SAARC member countries are expected to follow with equally attractive needs. Watch this space!
